January 6 - Kingsley Plantation

Today we took a drive out into the countryside to Kingsley Plantation, on the northern tip of Fort George Island.  The plantation is named for the owners of the plantation during the late 1700's and early 1800's.  It is now part of the Timucuan  Ecological and Historical Preserve and managed by the US Park Service.

The old plantation home was open for touring.

There were wetlands nearby

and lots of Spanish Moss in the trees around the grounds.
